Rice Kheer (Payas)





Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup basamati Rice
  • 1 tsp sago
  • 1 cup sugar 
  • 1 tsp cardmom powder
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 2 cups water
  • 6 cups of milk
  • 1 tbsp cashew nuts or alomnds chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
 


Method:

  • Pressure cook rice in 2 cups of water and salt. 
  • Wash Sago and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  •  Boil Milk  for 20 minutes on low flame.
  •  Add Rice and sago to milk and cook for another 5 minutes (or until sago becomes transparent).  
  • Add sugar chopped nuts,raisins. 
  • Boil for 5 minutes.
  •  Remove from the stove , add cadamom powder and stir. 
  • Serve hot or chilled.
